Accreditations

• Children’s Oncology Group (COG)  – an association of institutes dedicated to research in pediatric oncology

• American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer --  an accrediting body designed to help cancer programs monitor and deliver high-quality patient care
• Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) -- an organization that promotes quality medical care and laboratory practice in cellular therapies
• Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) – an organization that promotes research to reduce  morbidity and mortality from bone marrow transplants
• Joint Commission (formerly JCAHO) – a well-known U.S. based active healthcare accreditation group
• National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) – an organization that promotes bone marrow and umbilical cord blood transplants via a registry of stem cell donors
• Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Consortium (PBMTC) – a large clinical trials group focused exclusively on blood and marrow transplants for children and adolescents

• Therapeutic Advances in Childhood Leukemia Phase I – a consortium established to provide a means for carrying out early studies of new drugs in children with recurrent leukemia.

• Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium Phase I – a research organization devoted to finding new therapies for primary CNS tumors of childhood
• Designated a thalassemia care center by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention - one of seven national centers designated by the government to provide the high quality care for thalassemia and related disorders
• Collaborative Ependymoma Research Network (CERN) - an organization dedicated to developing new treatments for ependymoma

• Designated 340B Hemophilia Treatment Center - a program designed to receive federal funding administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This allows the hospital to purchase hemophilia factor at discounted prices, thereby passing the savings onto patients and insurers.
• Sickle Cell Thalassemia Patients Network  – an adult and parent support group for individuals with inherited blood disorders.

Note: Phase I denotes an elite group of centers that offers the most advanced therapies for children affected by cancer.
