Visiting hours and information
Visits by family and friends help the healing process. General information and hours (10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. everyday) are listed here.
- No more than four people at the bedside, including parents or guardians.
- Children under 12 cannot visit patients in isolation. This is an Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) regulation.
Please note that policies and hours vary floor by floor. For example, Critical Care (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) and Neonatology (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) have more specific visiting guidelines.
To ensure the health and safety of patients and staff, visitors who have the following symptoms — runny nose or nasal congestion, sore throat, cough or fever or 100° — will not be allowed to visit.
Please contact the charge nurse on your child's floor about cases that may need exceptions.
Practice simple hygiene
To help curb the spread of disease and maintain an infection-free environment, we ask all visitors to:
- Wash your hands — before, during and after all visits — with soap and water. Or use alcohol-based hand sanitizers, especially after coughing or sneezing.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue if you cough or sneeze, and promptly throw the tissue in the trash.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth to prevent spreading germs.
- Also for the safety of our patients, please wait at least one month if you have, or have been exposed to any contagious disease such as chicken pox, measles, tuberculosis, mumps, whooping cough or strep throat.
