Patrick Magoon elected chair-elect of Illinois Hospital Association Board
September 16, 2008 - Patrick Magoon, president and CEO of Children’s Memorial Hospital, was elected to serve as chair-elect of the Illinois Hospital Association’s (IHA) Board of Trustees for 2009. Magoon was elected at the association’s annual meeting held Sept.11-12 in Galena, Ill. He will assume the chairmanship of the 29-member board on Jan. 1, 2010.
Active in the association for the past 20 years, Magoon has been a member of the IHA Board of Trustees since 2001 and currently serves as secretary. He has been a member of the Policy Council, the Medicaid Reimbursement Task Force, the All Kids Task Force, and several other committees and panels. Magoon succeeds Harry Wolin, administrator, chief executive officer of Mason District Hospital in Havana.
Magoon’s health care career spans more than 30 years. He has served as president and CEO of Children’s Memorial Hospital since 1997. During that time, the hospital has consistently appeared on the U.S. News & World Report’s list of top children’s hospitals and has been named one of the Top 25 Best Places to Work in Chicago (Chicago magazine) and one of the 100 Best Companies for Working Mothers (Working Mother magazine). He has been an advocate in all matters of children’s health and served for two years as chairman of the Board of Trustees for the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions and the National Association of Children’s Hospitals.
The Illinois Hospital Association, with offices in Naperville and Springfield, is an advocate for 200 Illinois hospitals and the patients and communities they serve.
